Crave is a small operation. This page says plainly what we collect and what we don't, in the order you'd actually want to know it.
The short version. If you're a guest scanning a menu, we don't ask who you are and we don't track you. If you're a restaurant filling in the signup form, we keep the four things you typed so we can email you back. Nobody's data is sold, to anyone, for any reason.
If you're a guest looking at a menu
You don't need an account, an app, or a sign-in. You scan a code, the menu opens in your browser, and that's the whole relationship.
- We don't ask for your name, email, phone number or location.
- We don't set advertising cookies and we don't run third-party trackers.
- What you tap in the menu is counted anonymously so the restaurant can see which dishes get looked at. It isn't tied to you, and it can't be — there's no identifier to tie it to.
- If you build an order, it exists in your phone's memory until you send it or close the tab. Refresh the page and it's gone.
Crave never takes payment. No card numbers reach us because there's nowhere for them to go — you settle up with the restaurant the way you always have.
If you're a restaurant signing up
The form on our homepage asks for four things: your restaurant's name, your name, your email address, and your city. There's an optional fifth field for a link to your current menu.
That goes to our inbox so we can reply and build your first menu. We use it to contact you about Crave and nothing else. We don't add you to a marketing list, and we don't pass your details to anyone.
Form submissions are handled by Netlify, who host this site. Email is handled by our email provider. Those are the only two companies that touch it.
What we don't do
- We don't sell data. Not to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else.
- We don't build profiles of guests across restaurants.
- We don't share your menu, your prices or your sales with your competitors.
- We don't use your photos anywhere except your own menu, unless you tell us we can.
Your menu and photos are yours
Everything you upload stays yours. You can export it whenever you like, and if you leave, we delete it on request rather than holding it hostage.
Getting your data removed
Email us and ask. We'll delete your details and confirm when it's done. You don't need to give a reason and we won't make you click through a retention offer.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, we'll say so on it rather than quietly updating the date. The date at the top is when it last changed.
Contact
Questions about any of this go to a person, not a ticket queue. Use the form on the homepage and say it's a privacy question.
A note on this site's current state. Crave is early. This page describes how the product is built and intended to work. It is not legal advice and it hasn't been reviewed by a lawyer — before taking real customers, get a solicitor to look at it and adjust anything that doesn't match what you actually do.
